I have been reading the best-selling Every Woman’s Battle by author Shannon Ethridge and have found it to be a very interesting and powerful book on how to discover God’s plan for sexual and emotional fulfillment for women. She writes about how we can all keep our hearts, minds, emotions and bodies safe and pure, whether married or single. She unpacks the lies and the subtleties that attack a woman and shows her how to stand against them, so that we don’t fall into the sin in the first place…or what to do if we have already fallen. Shannon Ethridge has a very direct way of speaking, and her words are easy to read and digest.
We all now though, that the battle for purity doesn’t start when we reach adulthood, but when we are much younger, and in this sex saturated day and age the battle to keep yourself pure is very hard. It saddens me to see so many young people giving in and compromising their beliefs and standards, and the ages for that happening are getting younger, even in church communities where children have been taught about purity. So I was pleased to see than Shannon Ethridge has written a book for you to help your daughter maintain her purity, and there is another book in the series written by men for helping your sons. I will state I haven’t read these books, just the Look Inside preview Amazon gives, but I was pleased with the part I did read, and as I said above I am impressed with Shannon’s book for women. When I have children, then these are books I will be picking up to read and so I can prepare them for the battles ahead. This subject been on my heart a lot over the last couple of weeks so I thought I would share these titles with you today.

In a world that is becoming more and more sex focused, the books in this series are very valuable tools for helping not only keeping ourselves pure, but also preparing our children so they have the skills to succeed in keeping themselves pure.
And if we or our children have fallen, then let’s not listen to the lies from Satan that it is all over and we can’t be healed. We can! Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from all our sins ~ yes that also includes sexual sin. Forgiveness and redemption can be ours, if we just reach out and accept it. I love this great hymn Before the Throne of God Above by Charitie Lees Bancroft (1841-1892). Verse 2 is the one I want to bring to your attention. The hymn writer reminds us that it is Satan who tempts us to despair whenever we fail, but that when we look upward then we can see Him there, the sinless Saviour who died in our place, taking our sin upon Himself. Isn’t is just so amazing that no matter what we’ve done, when we ask for forgiveness, God looks at our Saviour’s shed blood at Calvary, sees the price has been paid, and sets us free!
